Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the library?

Our books are located in two places on campus. You'll find our offices, the archives, reserves, and most of the book collection on the lower floor of J building below the administration offices. There is also a self-checkout location on the second floor of the One Stop Center with a smaller portion of our book collection.

How do I find a book or DVD?

Type in information for the material you want using our library database and limit results to "Library Catalog."

The book I want isn't at the library. How do I get a copy?

You can get nearly any book, article, or audio/visual media through interlibrary loan. Let us know if you have any problems or need assistance with the process.

Do you carry textbooks?

Yes, the library keeps a textbook reserve in Lower J. Ask library staff for assistance finding and checking one out. Textbooks are placed on reserve by instructors and can be checked out for use in the library for 3 hours at a time.

What is a peer-reviewed journal article, and how do I find one?

A peer-reviewed journal article is an article that has undergone thorough review by experts in the field before being published. To find one, search our main database for any topic, then click "Peer-reviewed journals" under the "Availability" section in our sidebar. Using other databases, you can narrow your results by finding any filter with terms like "peer-reviewed" or "scholarly." If you're having trouble finding an article, ask us for assistance.

I live in Sullivan County. Can I use the library?

Yes. Sullivan County residents are eligible to utilize the library with proof of residency. County patrons may use library computers, check out books, use our public wifi, access databases and periodicals, and request books through interlibrary loan.
